Today I thought I would share one of my favourite creative activities with you all, it's perfect for a rainy day like today and it's called
The Rainy Day Picnic
Gather up the items you would usually take with you on a family picnic. Such as cups, plates, picnic baskets, blanket etc and pop them in a pile all together on the floor. Then sit around in a circle around the items.
One of the players goes first to choose an item, which they then give to one of the other people in the circle.
That person then has to create a mime using that item.
For example - Spreading the blanket, pouring a drink or cutting a cake. When they have finished everyone else playing has to copy their mime, but without using the item. You repeat the process until all the items have been used, then start again.
This will really open up the children's imaginations and it is great to see each players interpretation of how to use each item.
I then like to use all the items to have a carpet picnic for lunch :)
I would love to know how you get on and what items you take on your picnic
